David M. Kessler Workshop-Abstracting the Coastal Landscape

SOLD OUT! Workshop dates are January 26-28, 2022. Come join David in Murrell’s Inlet, South Carolina for 3 days of Painting, Discussions, Demonstrations and Fun with plenty of student painting time. Enrollment is limited to 4 people, so you get more personalized attention from David. This workshop will be held at David’s vacation home in Murrell’s Inlet, SC. This is a Brand New offering and David hopes it will become a yearly tradition.

Come shake off the cold of winter in the lovely South Carolina Low Country.

Here is some of what we’ll do in the workshop :

The workshop focus will be on using the South Carolina coastal landscape as inspiration for generating design compositions and paintings.
We will spend some time outdoors in various locations around Murrell’s Inlet, SC doing landscape sketches, taking reference photos and soaking up the look and feel of the coastal environment.
We will learn to see the essence of the landscape, simplify it into a value study, then commit it to canvas (or paper).
We will look at many different ways to develop a coastal landscape, and look at how other artists have done it.
We will investigate many painting techniques to help bring your coastal abstract landscape paintings to life.
In depth review and implementation of the 5 Design Fundamentals: Shape, Value, Color, Edges, Center of Interest.

All levels of painters are welcome, however some painting experience is helpful. This workshop is for water-based media only. David paints with acrylics and watercolor.

Workshop cost is $395 and includes lunch, beverages and snacks each day.
