The Painting of “Sea Glass 12”
In this video I am painting on a 30x30 gallery wrapped canvas. The painting, part of a series called Sea Glass, is a commission for a client. The clients liked a large painting in this series tI did several years ago, but the piece was too large for the space available in their home. I used elements from the larger piece in this smaller version to give it a similar arrangement, look and feel.
The paint used is all GOLDEN Heavy Body Acrylic Paint. The colors used are:
Benzamadazolone Yellow Light
Pyrrole Orange
Minty-G (custom mixture of mine)
Teal
Cobalt Turquoise
Indigo
Viridian Hue
Cerulean Blue Deep
Cobalt Green
Titanium White
First, I mixed a little of the Pyrrole Orange with all the blues and blue-greens to neutralize the color a bit, so they aren’t so bright. I then added a little of the Benz Yellow Light to the Minty-G to make a yellow-green. I added some Titanium white to all the colors, except the Indigo, to lighten the value.
The video camera takes over and you see parts of the process and the result. The clients are thrilled with it and so am I.
