The Painting of Coastal Life 3 - Rewind
/The Painting of Coastal Life 3 - Rewind
I remember the first time I ever saw an artist do a full painting demonstration I was mesmerized. It was so helpful seeing how they manipulated the brush, paint and substrate to create a beautiful work of art. I am sometimes mesmerized by my own painting process. Often when I create a new painting I step back to look at it and say to myself "Where did that come from?" Even after 30 years of painting, making art is still a mystery.
This painting is part of a series entitled "Coastal Life." For me it communicates the beach and the ocean. In it I can feel the hot sand and the warm breeze, and hear the rhythmic pounding of the waves. This video was done several years ago, but I am “rewinding” it here because I just love this painting and the experience of painting it. This piece is painted on a 36x72” gallery wrapped canvas.
To the best of my memory, here are the colors (Golden Heavy Body Acrylic):
Titanium White
Cobalt Turquoise
Viridian Hue
Burnt Umber
Naples Yellow Hue
Benzimidazolone Yellow Light
Pyrrole Orange
Titan Buff
Teal
Cerulean Blue Deep
Minty-G (custom mixture)
